What we investigate
The house is treated as one connected climate system.
The survey combines site measurements, building information, occupant preferences and operating history. Where one visit cannot tell the full story, monitoring can continue over several days.
Air quality
CO₂ and other indicators where monitoring is appropriate.
Moisture & condensation
Material moisture readings, dew-point assessment and condensation or mould-risk investigation.
Thermal imaging
Surface-temperature patterns and thermal anomalies, interpreted within the conditions of the visit.
Building fabric
Dimensions, construction, glazing, orientation and evidence-led U-values.
Air movement
Extract, supply paths, door transfer and existing ventilation performance.
System evidence
Existing equipment, controls, emitters, temperatures and operating behaviour.

HCS records what was measured directly, what was inferred from construction and behaviour, and what had to be assumed. Assumptions remain visible so the recommendation can be challenged and improved.

Seasonal conditions are modelled—not ignored.
A summer survey cannot reproduce a damp January, and a winter visit cannot reproduce peak solar gain. HCS combines site evidence with local historical weather and design conditions to estimate how the property behaves across the year.
The report states the inputs, calculation method, uncertainty and limits of what can reasonably be concluded.
